The Tea Party: Fringe Kooks or Patriots?

Did the Tea Party take a bath in November?  Is the Delaware senate race, where Christopher Coons defeated "Tea Party Candidate" Christine O'Donnell, indicative of a lack of American support of the Tea Party?  Did Harry Reid's Nevada Senate race defeat of Tea Party Candidate, Republican, Sharron Angle prove that the Tea Party is a movement without teeth?

On election night November 2nd, 2010, the former MSNBC loud mouth, Keith Obermann, made no effort to stem his insulting rhetoric of Tea Party endorsed Republican candidates as well as those Americans who support the Tea Party movement.  His position, as is that of most popular network and network affiliated media members, puts the Tea Party on a par with Waco's Branch Dividians.  Most mainstream news sources proclaimed, in sage tones, that the Tea Party is a trend: a fad which will sputter and fail over time.

The Tea Party is not a political party.  It is not a fringe movement.  The Tea Party doesn't even have leadership.  So how could it possibly have gained so much traction in the political world?  It is important to note that every movement, from religious to social, has always had leadership.  So what does this say about the Tea Party movement?  Tea Party members agree
